Swung by the waves of sorrow; burnt by the fires of anger;
Dazzling as a lightning;
Vowing for eternal love.
Even now we’re far apart, you’re surely not alone right?
As the Moonlight binds us.
Just finished reading Pierce Brown’s Red Rising and I loved it. Hooked me from the beginning, took my time with each chapter, savoring the story and by the end, I devoured it like a starving child. It’s been a while since I’ve been so taken with a book. It’s fantastic.
Christopher Shinn just really knows how to suck me in to his stories. However, I felt the script a bit lacking over all. I was left wanting more from the characters. Perhaps this is just one of those plays that has to be seen. I can see myself in the role and I know what choices I would/could make, but I still wanted more for the main character Kevin. This play is about what happens and/or could happen to actors in their careers and those they work with or have as significant others.
Kevin has so much happening around him and to him and there’s a lot he’s dealing with and I feel as though Shinn has left a lot of Kevin’s experiences out of the script. Again, I know some of that is also on the actor and his choices but it seems as though many things happen off stage between scenes that I would like to see happen within the script.
The script is 3M, 1F and 1M/F, and has some pretty interesting individual scenes that could be worked on. But in all, not one of my favorites. Again, it drew me in, felt promising and I felt let down. But it’s got a hopeful end!
Haven’t posted about a play in a while, and so I will now!
Loved the beginning of this play so much. The middle is great and by the end it gets a bit confusing, but all in all it’s got so many ups, downs and depths. This play is about honor, patriotism, loyalty to the country and loyalty to friends. I laughed quite a bit just reading the script, I can only imagine watching this on stage. But I wouldn’t categorize the script as a comedy.
There are a couple of nice monologues for men, a couple M/F scenes but mostly M/M scenes in this. This play can be for women seeking to work on a hooker type character, (hookers also happen to be blind) and men looking to play a die hard soldier and/or a beast with a heart.
Those are my opinions anyway. I say you read this play! Very engaging!
So apparently Viz Media is gonna give all 200 episodes of the original series a new English Dub and they’ll be streaming it on Neon Alley & Hulu?!?!
